Environment CS Aden Duale says impeached DP Rigathi Gachagua was naive and created many enemies

Environment Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has dismissed impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua as politically naive and an architect of his own downfall by disloyalty and creating too many enemies everywhere.

Speaking during a late-night television show, Duale who initially served as Defence CS, said DP Gachagua instead of making enemies especially in the National Assembly and the Senate he invested more in creating enemies.

He said Gachagua even failed to gain support of the more than 70MPs from his backyard of Mt Kenya a real proof that he had not reached out to them and made friends with them.

Duale said the big numbers of MPs who voted against him, painted the image of a DP who was a lone ranger and politically naive and therefore easy to dispose as it happened with the two impeachment proceedings.

He said for anyone to survive an impeachment motion in Kenya, needs to reach out to the National Assembly and the Senate and ensure he has numbers that could ensure that the two thirds majority required to approve such a motion is not reached.

Impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua speaking during a funeral in Lari, Kiambu County. He urged his supporters to stay calm as he vowed to teach President Ruto a lesson over his current tribulations.

Duale revealed that contrary to popular opinion, former President Uhuru had planned to impeach his then deputy and now President Ruto but the former Head of State could not raise the required two-thirds majority. He said then DP Ruto had at least 145MPs on his corner that denied President Uhuru the numbers required to impeach him and therefore he had to put up with him.

He said were DP Gachagua not politically naive, he should have navigated the political maze much better and by being loyal to the President instead of appearing to support forces that were anti-Ruto.

The former DP was impeached by overwhelming numbers in both houses and has moved to court alleging his removal from office was unconstitutional and the case is currently before a 3-judge bench at the High Court at Milimani, Nairobi.
