Police impound fake and dangerous vodka drinks

Detectives have impounded a consignment of counterfeit alcoholic drinks and a rolls of fake KRA stamps that were recovered at Kahawa Sukari and Kamulu areas of the city.

In a raid conducted by detectives from the Economic Crimes unit and officials from KRA, the following were recovered;

■1078 bottles of counterfeit alcoholic drinks,

■ one roll of counterfeit KRA Stamps,

■ 630 litres of ethanol,

■ 10,300 empty bottles and

■ four sacks of assorted bottle caps were recovered.

The value of the seized ethanol and alcoholic drinks is estimated at over Sh500,000 while the counterfeit stamps are worth Sh4 million.

A seizure notice was issued and the goods impounded as detectives investigate the source of the ethanol and the fake KRA stamps.

It is feared that the fake drinks may be already in circulation and consumers warned to be careful with what they consume.
