President-elect William Ruto promises to deal ruthlessly with cartels and brokers from Tuesday after swearing in as the 5th President

“Leave the cartels to me. As soon as I put the Bible down (swearing in) on Tuesday, I will deal with them ruthless. Leave that to me. Given them the warning,” said Ruto in Meru on Sunday

President-elect William Ruto has promised to deal ruthlessly with cartels and brokers that have been blamed for corruption theft and making life miserable for ordinary Kenyans.

Amid wild cheers by the congregation Ruto said as soon he is sworn in as the 5th President of Kenya, his first mission will be deal with cartels and brokers wreaking havoc in Kenya.

He gave the example of Jesus Christ who is quoted in the Holy Bible as having taken a cane and whipped traders and brokers who had taken over a synagogue and were selling their wares in every corner and space available.

Ruto said after Tuesday he will take the “cane” and streamline the brokers and traders without mercy saying they had caused heavy suffering on the people.

He was speaking in Meru during an interdenominational Church service at the Maua stadium where he also promised to address the issue of maize floor and fertilizer next week.

During the campaigns, he said he would ensure that the prize of maize flour and the cost of fertilizer would all be reduced to affordable rates and Kenyans have been asking him to keep the promising.
