Waiguru defends woman attacked by her guard reprimands the officer

Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru has reprimanded her security officer who viciously attacked a local woman when the administrator visited Kagio town.

Waiguru described the incident as unfortunate saying she had warned the “short tempered” police officer against getting easily provoked.

“It is unfortunate that the guard was short tempered and allowed himself to get provoked. He has been warned,’’ said Waiguru.

Waiguru said the lady Damaris Munene or Dama as she is popularly known was not asking about resources. The group of youth requested for my support, and I immediately committed to give them a fish pond to ensure they get sustainable income.

She took the opportunity to defend her development record by saying, ‘the work we have done in Kirinyaga is evident for all to see and no amount of misreporting can change that fact.

In the video doing rounds in the social media, Dama is seen talking to the governor and moments later as the governor is driven away, a scuffle between her and one of the guards ensued.

The guard is seen viciously attacking the Dama until members of the public joined in and pulled him away and was driven off.

The incident has led to angry reactions from members of the public calling for action to be taken against the officer who attacked Dama who posed no risk to the governor.
