Kungu hits back at governor Wairia, calls him a little lost boy

The row over installation of National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi escalated after the elders dismissed  Murang’a governor Mwani Wa Iria as a “little boy of no consequence facing ruin.”

An angry Patron of Kiama Kia Ma elders Capt Kungu Mugai blasted Wairia warning him of dire consequences should he set foot at the Gikuyu shrine allegedly to cleanse it.

At the same time Kungu disclosed that he never briefed President Uhuru on the coronation and that throughout the preparations he never spoke to the Head of State on the issue.

Wairia stocked Kungu’s anger when he said he was going to mobilise elders and politicians from Central Kenya to cleanse the shrine claiming it was defiled by the ceremony where Muturi was crowned as the Mt Kenya spokesperson.

Kungu said Wairia has been lying to elders including promising to refurbish the shrine but never did, and that his attempts to stop the coronation were exercise in futility.

At the same time Kungu attacked the Kiama Kia Ma elders group opposed to the coronation saying they were operating using a fake certificate and that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has given police the go ahead to arrest and charge them.

He however made a sensational claim that every time the police wanted to arrest the Kiama Kia Ma officials, a call from State House and Harambee house would stop them.

Kungu – they move with fake certificate. DPP said they should be arrested. Muiru, Gaithuma should be arrested. We went to Kinoti, he said every time they arrest them, they receive calls from State House and Harambee not to arrest. I blame deep state. They are sabotaging the president.

He alleged that the “deep state” and some government officer were frustrating and sabotaging the President’s development agenda.

Kungu was the patron of the elders had the key role of conducting the coronation of Muturi a ceremony that has sharply divided opinions in Mt Kenya region.

Wairia is among the key critic but was also joined by Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru, Agriculture CS Peter Munya – all who have laughed off the event.

But Kungu insisted Muturi was the spokesman for the elders but his protege and patron of Muranga elders Prof Peter Kagwanja appeared to let the cat out of the bag when he said Muturi would also lead political negotiations for the region.
