KEMSA promises quality, affordable health products to public hospitals

The Kenya Medical Supply Agency (KEMSA) has vowed to ensure public hospitals are supplied with quality and affordable health products.

KEMSA chairman Irungu Nyakera said the authority will do all in its power to guarantee availability of high quality and affordable health products in public hospitals.

He made the remarks when he met Prof Olive Mugenda, the Chair, Kenyatta University Referral Hospital.

The meeting was on how to improve service delivery to Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral & Research Hospital by Kenya Medical Supplies Authority – KEMSA.

“We will do all we can to serve public hospitals and guarantee availability of quality and affordable health products,” said Nyakera.

In addition Nyakera said KEMSA is committed to supporting local manufacturers by ring fencing certain procurements for local manufacturers and ensuring prompt payment of suppliers.

He said they will also help companies build local manufacturing capacity for critical import items in the spirit of Buy Kenya, Build Kenya.
