Israel pounds Palestine overnight after a terror attack by Hamas

Israeli Air Force (IAF) pounded terror targets overnight in the Gaza strip as hostilities between the two protagonists renewed days after a new Israeli government was installed.

In an operation update, IAF said its fighter jets had struck military compounds belonging to the Hamas terror organization after Hamas launched arson balloons into the Israeli territory.

IAF said the facilities they struck were used as facilities and meeting sites for terror activities by operatives from the Hamas Khan Yunis and Gaza Brigades.

They said Hamas terrorist group was responsible for all the events transpiring in the Gaza strip and will bear the consequences for its actions.

“The Hamas terror organization is responsible for all events transpiring in the Gaza Strip and will bear the consequences for its actions,’’ said the IAF.

It was the first sudden eruption of hostilities since ceasefire was declared by the two sides on May 21.

IAF said several arson balloons were sent from Gaza into the Israeli territory causing multiple fires in fields in Southern Israel and in response they pounded terrorist sites overnight.

The fight is the first since a new coalition government headed by Naftali Bennett was formed on Sunday ending the 12-year rule of Benjamin Netanyahu.
