Hospitalised DP Rigathi Gachagua to remain admitted for 72 hours, says Karen Hospital CEO

Embattled Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua suddenly fell before being cross examination by the Senate throwing his impeachment trial in turmoil and leaving the country is suspended suspence.

And the CEO of Karen Hospital Dr Dan Gikonyo (one of the most coveted cardiologists in Kenya) where DP Gachagua is admitted after developing chest pains said the DP will be at the facility for at least 72 hours.

Addressing the media outside the hospital, Dr Gikonyo said the DP was rushed there suffering chest pains and that they are currently doing all the tests required to identify the ailment that the former Mathira MP may be suffering.

Dr Gikonyo they are carrying out specialised tests on the DP for that they can be able to offer the best medical care that he will require.

He said any individuals above 50 years are susceptible to chest pains and heart ailments and only specialised tests will reveal the condition and correct diagnosis so that they can offer the required treatment.

“We will have him at the facility for between 48 and 72 hours. We have to carry out specialised tests to reveal what is causing the chest pains. We must follow the correct procedures as every doctor knows,” said Dr Gikonyo .

The hospitalisation threw the Senate proceedings in a spin after his legal team also walked out of the chamber protesting that their client could not be condemned unheard.

However, the Senate voted to continue with impeachment in his absence something his lawyers say they will contest in court in the morning since their client has not been heard.
