BBI co-chair Dennis Waweru roots for Mt Kenya unity under one presidential candidate

BBI co-chair Dennis Waweru and former Dagoretti South MP says Mt Kenya region will approach the 2022 general election united under one party and one presidential candidate.

He said the region will then negotiate with other regions the same way it did in 2013 when The National Alliance (TNA) led by President Uhuru negotiated with URP to form a government.

Waweru said all other regions in Kenya and uniting under their leaderships and would be akin to committing political suicide for Mt Kenya to join other parties blindly.

He noted that Western Kenya was united under ANC, Ukambani under Wiper, Nyanza under ODM and that the Coast region was shopping for their own party to negotiate with.

Waweru said the 8.5million votes from Mt Kenya will be put in one basket and urged all leaders to preach unity.

He said Mt Kenya region must produce a presidential candidate in the 2022 general elections.

Speaking in Meru during the second round of Mt Kenya Unity talks, Waweru said the region has many qualified sons and daughters who can steer the country to greater heights.

He said the interests of the region could only be secured when the region was properly represented in government and united under one political party.

Waweru dismissed the tangatanga group saying their interests have been personal and aimed at dividing the region.
He said a united Mt Kenya region was good for the people and the entire country.

Waweru told Deputy President William Ruto who has been leading a rebellion against President Uhuru that his time was up in Mt Kenya region.

He said like minded leaders will go from village to village preaching unity and promised that by 2022 Mt Kenya will be speaking in one united language.
