Irate husband destroys precious avocados in a Father’s Day dispute

Drama unfolded at a village in Kirinyaga County when an angry man destroyed market-bound avocados worth thousands of shillings in a Father’s Day dispute.

In a fit of rage Francis Mutemi slashed the delicious fruits and bananas in a bid to stop his wife from going to the market.

He had insisted that his wife stays at home so they can celebrate Father’s Day together – but wife had other plans.

The wife and a group women who trade in fresh farm produce had planned to take the products to the market as the normal practice when the dispute around the Father’s Day arose.

The man has now gone into hiding after the wife reported the matter to the local police. He is being sought for malicious destruction of property among other charges that police will deemed fit.

Apparently the man destroyed avocados belong not just to his wife but for other women traders.
The women were had gathered the produce at a collection point waiting for transport when the attack occurred.

It emerged that the women who operate as a group sell their avocados and bananas in Kitui and were set for the journey when the man ordered the wife not to leave him unattended as it was Father’s Day.

The woman declined to stay at home and in a fit of anger he went and destroyed the entire produce that was packed in sacks waiting for transporting thinking all belonged to the wife.

Kenyans reacted with anger and amusement when the story surfaced online, especially those who love avocados. Others told the man that his anger was misdirected since he was not the father of his wife.
