Rigathi Gachagua now alleges a plot to arrest, poison him same way Moi did to Matiba

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has dropped another bombshell alleging a plot to have him arrested and poisoned.

Escalating his war with his former boss President Ruto, Gachagua said he will mobilise Kenyans to defeat Ruto and send him home in 2027.

He said he had received intelligence of the plan to arrest him and inject him with a poisonous subject so as to destabilise his brain

Gachagua said the scheme was similar to what happened to late Kenneth Matiba who was detained by the Moi regime and suffered a debilitating stroke that destroyed his health.

It was suspected that Matiba’s stroke was induced by a lethal injection during the detention. Matiba was a towering opposition figure who threated to end late President Moi’s dictatorial regime.

And Gachagua issued the much awaited statement following months of consultation after he was unceremoniously impeached.

Addressing selected media houses primarily broadcasting in Mt Kenya, Gachagua announced that a new political party for the region is ready and will be unveiled in May this year.

He said Mt Kenya region has cut all political ties with President Ruto and will have nothing to do with him and that they have also abandoned the UDA party.

Gachagua said the party will form alliances with others from all over the country and that millions are waiting to join it as soon as it is launched.

He said Mt Kenya region has vowed never to go to an election without a party or to elect leaders of questionable educational background (locally known us tugege).

Gachagua acknowledged having been part of promoting “tugeges” in Mt Kenya and apologised to the people while urging experts to vie for various seats in the region.

He gave the example of ODM led by Raila Odinga that ensures that only leaders of high quality and well grounded in education got elected.
