Gen Z call off anti-government protests after hired goons infiltrated causing mayhem

The youth-led anti-government protests have been called after hired goons infiltrated the demonstrations and engaged in looting and wanton destruction of properties.

The Gen Zs as they are popularly known announced through social media handles that they had called off the protests until further notice because their peaceful movement had been infiltrated by goods sponsored by State agents.

Unlike their initial protests that were largely peaceful with no destruction of property, theft or looting Tuesday’s demonstrations saw shocking scenes where individuals looking like hardened goons and criminals went on the rampage snatching phones, muggings and looting shops and supermarkets took centre stage.

In Mombasa the goons were more brazen breaking into shops, vandalising cars and setting them ablaze leaving a trail of damage worth millions of shillings. It took the area governor to address demonstrators urging them no to destroy or burn the city.

The initial protests by Gen Z took the country and the world as a surprise because of their organised nature, peaceful and cultured where demonstrators were only armed with water and a phone. They earned praise from all quarters and even the government promised to listen to their list of grievances.

President Ruto who is the target of the protest has promised to have a conversation with Gen Z and formed a Multi-Sectoral Forum and asked them to nominate two representatives.

The youths immediately declined saying they want Ruto to engage them in their spaces and that they need to see more action and less talk.

The protests have led to a fall out in government with one wing blaming the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of funding the youths together with other opposition figures, something that has also been denied.
