Prominent Nairobi business lady Agnes Kagure was among leaders who mourned the late Mau Mau freedom war heroine Muthoni Kirima praising her war exploits.

Kagure who was a close friend of Field Marshal Muthoni wa Kirima, said Kenya has lost a true icon who fiercely fought for what she believed in.

“As one who knew her at a personal level, I can attest to her fearlessness and commitment to pursuing what she believed in,” ssid Kagure.

She added that with her strong will, it is no surprise that she was able to make history as the only woman Field Marshal in Mau Mau’s fight for independence.

Kagure said Muthoni leaves behind a legacy of courage, sacrifice and most importantly, of gratitude that was evident even in her sunset years – every kind deed to her deserved a thank you, and she extended it!

” Field Marshall Muthoni now rests alongside other great Kenyans who fought to give us so much, but her legacy and memory will live with us to inspire many generations to come. Rest well, my everyday hero Muthoni,” said Kagure.

Others who sent condolences include President Ruto who saif he was deeply saddened by the passing of Field Marshall Muthoni Kirima, a powerful figure of broad influence who fought for our freedom.

He said Muthoni was courageous, hardworking and loved her family, served her community and sacrificed for the country, always with diligence from the frontline.

“We honour her heroic contribution to the freedom and development of our country and pray to God that He grants the family strength at this painful time. Rest In Peace, our Shujaa,” said Ruto.
