Mama Ngina keeps promise gifts Mau Mau war heroine Sh 5m and a house

Former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta has gifted Mau Mau war heroine Field Marshall Muthoni a house and cleared her Sh 4.7m bank loan.

Field Marshall Muthoni had last year requested Mama Ngina to shave off her Mau Mau dreadlocks to symbolise her return from freedom fighting.

The former first lady and mother to Kenya’s 4th President Uhuru Kenyatta shaved Muthoni’s dreadlocks in a cultural ceremony last year ahead of the 2022 general elections.

The event that was full of symbolism both cultural and political attracted huge attention in the country.

Prominent Nairobi business woman Agnes Kagure who has been central to the event thanked Mama Ngina for her kind gesture.

At the time, Muthoni asked that her 60-year dreadlocks be kept in the Museum so that future generations can learn of Kenya’s freedom and the struggles of freedom fighters.

Mama Ngina said she had spoken to officials of the National Museums of Kenya and the transfer is underway.

Field Marshal Muthoni also requested for the settling of a Ksh. 4.7Million owed to Equity Bank which Mama Ngina did.

She also highlighted her deplorable living condition and Mama Ngina bought her a 3-bedroom house.

During today”s event, Field Marshal Muthoni and her family visited Mama Ngina to thank her for fulfilling the promise.
