Angry Mama Ngina Kenyatta hits back at President Ruto, says her family pays taxes and is free to take her to court

An angry former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta has hit back at President Ruto and warned him against telling lies and politicizing the issue of taxes.

Speaking at Mpeketoni, in Lamu County the mother of retired President Uhuru dared President Ruto to confiscate her wealth if she has failed to pay taxes even for a year.

“If I have failed to pay taxes even for a year, confiscate my wealth or take me to court. That is the law. The government has ways of getting taxes from Kenyans and the issue should not be used for political gains,” Mama Ngina said while at Mpeketoni in Lamu county.

She went on to say that her family pays all the due taxes and all the allegations leveled on them were lies aimed at tarnishing their name to political gains.

Mama Ngina said the government has procedures on how all taxes are paid by all whether small or big and it is not an issue to speak about in newspapers and political rallies.

She added that if one does not pay tax you are taken to court because it is the law, and if you fail to pay your property is taken and sold to recover taxes.

“There is a procedure to recover taxes not paid. There is no point in tarnishing people’s names so that people can see that you are working, that is not the way. Prosecute those that do not pay, even if it is me,” said Mama Ngina.

President Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua have lately turned their guns on the Kenyatta Family who have been accused of evading to pay taxes running into billions.

The family matriarch today responded saying they pay all taxes and that the issue is being politicized so that Ruto can be seen as if he is working.

She said those accusing her family of not paying taxes know very well they were telling lies.
