Raila hints at making earthshaking announcement in coming days

By HARRIET MUGO

Raila Odinga says that he has not given up on fighting for Kenya’s socio – political liberation.

Raila said he will continue keeping the government in check dismissing claims that he is “tired” and is slowly exiting the political scene.

He was speaking in Siaya county during the burial of Mama Ida Oding’a’s late bodyguard Barrack Oduor.

Raila was accompanied by KANU Secretary General Nick Salat, told his supporters to prepare for major reforms as a result of a political direction he will give in the near future.

“Be strong because I am not yet tired. Should I give up or continue? I will give directions on the path we shall take when the time is right.

“Going forward, we want to bring change to our people so that Kenyans can live a comfortable life. That is what service to the nation is all about,” he said

He described his renewed public engagements in opposition as a selfless act to better the country and not benefit him nor his family members.

Odinga also intimated, albeit without divulging details, that he will make an announcement of “major consequence” in the coming days.

“I will talk to you in the coming days. There are good things we are bringing to you. When the time comes we will tell you that this is the direction we want to take. The time has not come but it will come do not give up,” said Raila

Siaya Governor James Orengo, who was also at the funeral, echoed Raila’s sentiments.

“We will not give up on the liberation struggle so you better be prepared. You will understand what type of leader Raila Odinga is. Courage and determination will take us where we want to go,” said Orengo.

Orengo also threw jabs at President William Ruto’s administration claiming that he is clueless on the direction the country should take.

The governor demanded that Ruto moves with speed to solve the current drought and famine situation in the country.
