Popular Mugithi musician Jose Gatutura to perform at Misty Mountain Lodge in Naromoru, on Saturday.

Massively popular Kikuyu musician Jose Gatutura will this Saturday stage his signature electrifying musical extravaganza at the scenic Misty Mountain Lodge in Naromoru, Nyeri County.

Gatutura shot to fame when he released blockbuster songs “Tuirio twega” (good food) and “Haha ni gute (this is lost) and has since turned out to be a leading crooner of Kikuyu benga music.

A household name among the Gikuyu community, Gatutura says his songs are popular because they are educative and inspired to offer good guidance.

Even though he performs in clubs sometimes holding beer bottles, Gatutura does not drink alcohol saying, it can destroy an artist’s career.

With a spectacular view of Mt Kenya, Misty Mountain lodge is a leading hotel in Nyeri and is the base for climbing Africa’s second tallest mountain.

Misty as the hotel is popularly known is built on an 80-acre piece of land with a large open air stage, huge manicured lawns surrounded by trees both indigenous and exotic making it ideal for performances in line with government Covid-19 protocols.

It has large grounds for weddings and team buildings, nature walk and a natural maze, as well as horse riding, swimming and grows its own food organically in its large farm.

Earlier in the year, the hotel started a project aimed at support leading local artists and in the processing reviving the hospitality industry both of which have been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The hotel supports the artists by offering them an opportunity to perform and keep their careers afloat while at the same time, their performances help support the hospitality industry – while strictly following the Ministry of Health Covid-19 containment measures and protocols.

Already the hotel has held successful events where leading County Music star Sir Elvis performed to excited fans who travelled from far and wide.

Another leading Kikuyu artists Samidoh has also performed at the hotel much to the delight of the fans who kept on asking for more.

Hotel’s director Peter King’ara said more artists are lined up adding that music and artist performers are a good way to relax and cool off and recharge our bodies and spirits.
