President Ruto bows to pressure drops Ndia MP’s wife from list of PS nominees

Sustained pressure from Kirinyaga County residents has seen President Ruto drop Calorine Nyawira – wife to Ndia MP George Kariuki (GK) from the list of PS nominees.

In her place prominent business lady Mary Muthoni also from Kirinyaga has been appointed to replace Nyawira.

Ever since the Permanent Secretary nominees were named, there was an uproar after it emerged that the only slot given to Kirinyaga had gone to the MP’s wife

The residents accused GK of using his huge influence to nominate his wife even though he had himself just secured chairmanship of the lucrative infrastructure parliamnetary committee.

They urged President Ruto to drop Nyawira and pick any qualified Kirinyaga nominee irrespective of party or political affiliation.

Muthoni is a renowned business lady and founder of St Petroc Premier School in Embu and a key player in Women in Business forum where she is the president.

Such is her big heart that when Nyawira was nominated she sent her a congratulatory message not knowing the position would end up with her.

“Congratulations Caroline Nyawira Murage nominated PS Correctional Services. This is the most competitive exercise I ever went through. My mantra, keep clapping until it’s your turn,” she wrote.
