Child with a fork lodged in the skull; KNH conducts a delicate surgery to remove it

Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) is set to conduct a delicate surgery to remove a fork lodged in the skull of a child.

The hospital said the child had lost alot of blood and that the clotting was not occuring as expected hence the delay to start the operation.

“The patient had lost a lot of blood and as a result, the clotting process was not occurring as expected, thereby, delaying the surgical procedure as this would have been dangerous to the patient,” said the hospital in a statement.

Dismissing reports that the hospital had declined to operate on the child citing another emergency, KNH said the delicate operation was currently underway.

“The patient has since been stabilized and is currently undergoing a delicate operation in KNH theatres,” said the hospital.

KNH added said that they had noted the concerns of the members of the public and assured them that the child is under the best care by our teams.
