UDA politician Rigathi Gachagua and Kabogo in trouble with voters for insulting Mama Ngina Kenyatta again in Kiambu

Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo and Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua have been criticized over their remarks while on a campaign tour of Kiambu County directed at the former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta.

Kabogo caused a storm when he directed his anger on a section of restless crowd where he hurled insults at them rekindling memories of 2017 when voters revolted against him over similar insults.

During their stopover in Kikuyu, Deputy President William Ruto invited Kabogo to address the crowd that had thronged the area. However, while he was making his speech, a section of rowdy youth interrupted him. As the mayhem escalated, the Tujibebe Party leader lost his cool.

The former governor angrily insulted those who were causing chaos, calling them ‘wapumbavu’, which is loosely translated as fools.

Kabogo, who is eying the Kiambu gubernatorial seat, condemned the violence insisting that the Kenya Kwanza team are peaceful people.

“It looks like you have been sent here to cause chaos, just know we are peaceful people. If you are the one who has paid the youth to disrupt our rally, go die. Kenya belongs to all of us,” said Kabogo.

Further in his speech, he insisted that he joined Ruto’s team after weighing all options and saw it is the latter who has a better chance of succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta in the August polls. ” I am not a prophet or a witch but I have seen Ruto will win the elections,” he added

On his part Rigathi made reference to Mama Ngina Kenyatta’s special ceremony of shaving the dreadlocks of the only female Field Marshal in Nyeri Town last Saturday.

“We want to tell them that you took the land of Mau Mau and now you have gone to shave their hair and we don’t know where you are taking it.,” Gachagua told a crowd in Kiambaa constituency.

“Mau Mau people are being buried in a public cemetery because you too their land. Look for them and give them their land,” he added.

Mau Mau fighter Muthoni wa Kirima has had the dreadlocks for over 60 years. Most of the Mau Mau fighters took a vow that they will never shave until the whites leave Kenya.

The veteran’s wish was to have Mama Ngina cut her dreadlocks and to bless President Uhuru Kenyatta.

This came as a clip emerged on social media in which Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwah blocked UDA aspirant Murugami who is vying against his cousin in Limuru Constituency

Residents were enraged by Ichungwah’s actions which they the Kikuyu MP wants to use his close links with DP Ruto so that his cousin can be given a direct ticket instead of Murugami.
