President Ruto visits Kirinyaga, commissions Thiba dam

President William Ruto has commissioned Thiba Dam, a Sh8.2 billion project that will help increase value of food production from Sh10 billion to Sh18 billion, creating more than 50,000 jobs a year.

He said the deliberate investment, construction and expansion of dams is a priority his government works towards having sustainable irrigation water to rebuild agriculture in our country.

He said Thiba Dam holds huge potential to tackle food crisis as it diminishes our dependence on rain-fed agriculture.

President Ruto said more food production will mean more earnings for the farmers and more jobs for our youth which is the focus of his government.
