Rigathi Gachagua has made history as the first sitting deputy president to be impeached from office.
The Senate voted by an overwhelming majority to remove him from office only a week after Parliament made a similar decision.
He was impeached even as he was admitted in hospital with severe chest pains and the doctors said they would observe him for 72 hours.
Gachagua fell on the first count where his comment on shareholding, describing the government as company limited by shares.
This charge appeared to have rubbed the members of both houses wrongly and vote was overwhelming.
Gachagua is now a former deputy president and all eyes are on the next individual to be appointed to the hot office.
