Coffee from Machakos County fetches highest amount during this week’s sale.

Coffee from Jobe Farm from Machakos County has fectched the highest amount during this week’s sale at at the Nairobi Coffee Exchange (NCE).

According to the Market Summary for Sale No. 42 released by NCE Jobe Farm grade AA was bought at USD 337 for 10 bags of 50ks each.

In Sale No. 42, a total of 9,736 bags (50kg each) of coffee were traded, showing a slight increase from the 9,714 bags in Sale No. 41. The average price per 50kg bag rose to $245.15 from $239.80, equivalent to Ksh 633 per kilo of clean coffee or Ksh 97 per kilo of cherry.

The highest price recorded was $337 for 10 bags (609kg) of AA-grade coffee from Jobe Farm of Machakos County, purchased by Kenya Nut Company (pending confirmation).

This price translates to Ksh 870 per kilo of clean coffee or Ksh 134 per kilo of cherry.

Total earnings increased to $2,964,278 (approximately Ksh 382 million), up from $2,875,506 in Sale No. 41. Notably, 67% of the auctioned volumes (6,543 bags) were of the high-quality AA and AB grades.

Top Brokers Eight brokers participated in the auction, presenting their clients’ coffee for trade. New KPCU PLC led the market, trading 2,881 bags, of which 71% were AA and AB grades.

Alliance Berries Ltd followed with 2,637 bags, 70% of which were AA and AB. Kirinyaga Slopes Coffee Brokerage Company Ltd ranked third, trading 1,937 bags, with 66% being AA and AB grades.
