Kiunjuri hits back at DP Ruto, calls him a day-dreamer as the war in tanga tanga escalated

A day after Deputy President William Ruto blasted former CS Mwangi Kiunjuri dismissing his party as briefcase that cannot form a coalition with UDA, Kiunjuri has hit back accusing the DP of day-dreaming.

In an escalation of war of words between the DP and his former loyalist, Kiunjuri dismissed Ruto as a day-dreamer who is out of touch with reality that political coalitions in Kenya are there to stay.

“Anybody who is dreaming somewhere in a certain corner, that parties should be dissolved, please forget it. This country, you cannot do without coalitions, and coalitions are coming, and we have said again for Mt Kenya region, our freedom is now coming.

We shall be able to ask what belongs to us in broad day light. And this one we shall ask from anybody who want to be supported by our people,” said Kiunjuri

Kiunjuri further accused the DP of gathering some MPs at his Karen office to insult him and Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria saying no amount of intimidation or insults will make them disband their parties.

“If you think that calling a few members of parliament to shout down on us and abuse us will stop us, my friend we have been there,’’ said Kiunjuri.

Kiunjuri who is the party leader of The Service Party (TSP) has flatly said he is not dissolving his party to join UDA, and Kuria who is the party leader of Chama Cha Kazi has taken the same position.

As the fallout in tanga tanga deepened, as visibly angry DP on Wednesday described Kiunjuri and Kuria’s parties as tribal briefcase parties that are owned by members of the same tribe and who conduct their business in vernacular.

He said in reality those parties do not exist and therefore his United Democratic Alliance (UDA) cannot go into a coalition with such outfits.

The statement angered Kiunjuri who told off the DP accusing him of living in denial and insisting that the people of Mt Kenya will join one coalition that they will use to negotiate for power with.

It is a dramatic turn of event as Kenyans witnesses a raging war of words between Ruto and his former allies who have spent four years marketing the DP in Mt Kenya while inciting the people against President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Political analysts are predicting the end of the tanga tanga group since the Mt Kenya region is now warming towards a coalition of party leaders that they are hoping will produce a running mate if they do not sponsor one of their own for the president.
